So I love to run. My body, most days, is on board with this. But since moving to Hawaii (and thus, outdoors physical activities) I have been on the go almost every day. Yesterday, I ran four miles in the morning. Felt amazing - fastest run since we moved. Then, after workday was complete, we grabbed our snorkel gear and hopped over to Lanikai beach for some waves and rejuvenation. (Totally worth it; we saw a honu (sea turtle)!) But we swam/snorkeled for an hour, so man, my legs were tired this morning!
I hate rest days. I mean, I love them, really, because I can relax and foam roll and hang out and not worry about didirunhardenoughdidicounteractallofthisfood. But I have a hard time letting my body recuperate - and that is NOT a great mindset for a runner. Rest days are SO important! And really, your body will not run at optimum health if you do not give the pieces time to repair. (I know, I know. I hate it, too.)
I'm thinking about walking the dogs this morning. I know, I know. I have issues.
Happy running!
